Introducing Henry - the new "MAN" my life.
"I
needed a dancing partner (don"t we all?) for a special church
dinner dance and fund raiser. I also hoped for a little comic relief.
As it turned out, Henry was perfect for both and actually made a few
dollars as well!"

"I dressed him in a very tacky "retro" dinner jacket
- cream with brown velvet lapels, horn rimmed glasses with elastic
in back of his head, and so on - you get the idea. The only thing
missing was a pocket protector filled with pens and pencils!
Henry sat in an arm chair near the band. On the table beside him was
a decorated plastic container with a slot in the top, labeled "Dance
With Me, Henry" $1.00 a dance. He had a respectable number of dollars
in the container at the end of the evening. Several ladies enjoyed
his company and he was only a little the worse for wear. (I had replaced
his shoes and forgotten to reattach them. They were pinned on and
he danced right out of his shoes - literally!)
Another thing I enjoyed about having Henry for a date is that he didn't
want to go home before the party was over!

Henry looks great in a Tux,
doesn't he? and, he is a supurbe dancer - just ask his creator, Dorothea
Montante! She also said everyone thinks he looks like her husband
Ken. Henry's next gig will be dancing
in a chorus line like the Rockettes! I'd
sure love to see that! Carolee
This handsome
cowboy Henry, AKA Buck Relay, was made by Margie Shollenberger. He
did his part
to help raise funds at a Relay for Life, where he graciously danced
with anyone for a 'buck' a dance which was donated to the American
Cancer Society. I think Margie did a great job with Henry! He's destined
to attend many more dances.

Henry is made of fleece with short fur crewcut and mustache, as shown
here. I also did one version with long hair fur and he came out looking
a little like Mark Twain with a handlebar mustache. Red BVD"s
and faded overalls would have been perfect on him! (The crew cut version
actually resembles my Dad. I found that to be a little odd until I
thought about it. I guess we all create what is familiar. I'm told
my dolls all have a family resemblance.)
2001 and part of '02 were a busy time for Henry and Dorothy Leeper, of Marysville, California. They traveled in amorot home and participated in many celebrations, ending with a Chinese Bok-Kai Festival!

Didn't Dorothy do a great job? Henry looks pleased and happy to be so active - at his age, don't you think?
Henry gives new meaning to the term "stuffed shirt"as you
will see in the directions. He is easy to make and can be dressed
with resale shop, garage sale or attic finds - size 36-40. Actually,
Henry can wear pretty much any size you would care to put on him.
He is very adjustable and accommodating.
Henry would love to go traveling with you too! Get him a hat, sunglasses
and the morning paper; buckle him in and away you go. I took him for
a ride and really enjoyed watching (surreptitiously) the other drivers
reactions when they noticed him!
Henry is sitting in front of my office
now, relaxing under a tree in a Mr. Rogers cardigan."
